What is a placeholder image?
A placeholder (dummy) image fills the space of a real image while you build a web page or app, or lay out a design before the final artwork is ready. It usually shows its own size (for example 600 × 400) so you can check the layout at a glance. This tool lets you set the size, colors and text, then download the image or copy it.
How to use
- Enter the width and height, or pick a common size. With "Lock aspect ratio" checked, changing one side updates the other.
- Set the background color, opacity, text color, text and font size; the preview updates instantly.
- Choose a format, change the file name if you like, and click "Download image", or click "Copy image" to paste it elsewhere.

FAQ
How do I make a transparent background?
Set "Background opacity" to 0% and choose PNG, WebP or SVG. The checkerboard in the preview shows the transparent area.
Why does "Copy image" always copy a PNG?
Browser clipboards only widely support PNG images, so copying always uses PNG whatever format you chose. Use Download for other formats.
Is the image uploaded to a server?
No. The image is generated entirely in your browser without touching the server, which is also why it is so fast.
