What is Bulk Edit in Postman?
On the Params, Headers and Body form-data tabs in Postman there is a "Bulk Edit" link. It switches to a plain-text editor where you can paste many fields at once, one key:value per line. If your parameters are in JSON (copied from front-end code or API docs, for example), convert them here and paste the result instead of typing each field by hand.
How to use
- Paste a JSON object into the Input box, or click "Load example".
- Click "Convert" to generate the Bulk Edit text.
- Click "Copy", open the Params (or Headers / form-data) tab in Postman, click "Bulk Edit" and paste.
Conversion rules
| JSON | Result |
|---|---|
Simple field {"page": 1} | page:1 |
Nested object {"filter": {"q": "abc"}} | filter.q:abc |
Array {"ids": [3, 5]} | ids[0]:3ids[1]:5 |
null | Empty value, e.g. coupon: |
| Line breaks inside strings | Written as \n so one value is not split into two lines |
Example
Input:
{"keyword":"phone","page":1,"filter":{"brand":["Apple","Samsung"],"inStock":true},"coupon":null}
Result:
keyword:phone page:1 filter.brand[0]:Apple filter.brand[1]:Samsung filter.inStock:true coupon:
FAQ
Why must the top level be a JSON object?
Every Bulk Edit line needs a key. A top-level array or a single value has no key to map to, so wrap it in { }.
My backend does not understand ids[0]. What now?
Frameworks read arrays differently: some expect ids[0]=3, some repeat the key (ids=3&ids=5) and some use ids[]=3. After converting, rename the keys in Postman as needed, for example change both ids[0] and ids[1] to ids.
Do values containing a colon (such as URLs) break?
No. Postman splits each line at the first colon, so url:https://example.com is read as the key url with the value https://example.com. Only keys themselves cannot contain a colon.
